Kathy said a lot of this after dinner on Saturday but now that we are home (and being the type of person who, as the Lions pointed out in their skit, likes to write things down carefully) I will say it again here.
You are all great! In all of our travels, we have lived in many places and met many, many cool people. (That’s you!) In every one of those places, you have made us feel at home. For us, home is not just an apartment, a house, or a city: home is where our family and friends are.
I’m pretty comfortable in saying that Camp Spoonhowopic has been a success, and I know that this success is because of you. I feel a little like patrons of art (or patrons of AWESOME)… as if our part was only to provide an opportunity for all of you to express your music, your competitiveness, and your “unbridled enthusiasm.” As if all you needed was just some small excuse (in the form of a bandanna) to unleash your potential. One of the funnest parts of the weekend (for me) was seeing what amazing things you all are capable of: whether it was sticks antlers sticking out from your bandannas, your 110%-all-in participation in the three-legged race, your cheers, or your skits… really, I’m not sure what more anyone could have done.
So, from my current Pittsburgh home, I want to thank all of you for making Camp Spoonhowopic a place where everyone can be themselves, a place where amazing things happen, and yet another home for me and for Copic. You are great.
We have a few more things to say (and a few more recipes to share) so you will hear from us again soon.
