The Legend of the Woodsman

Hello fellow campers…I thought I’d upload the ghost story so everyone could have it if they want it!

Go Stags!

Biz

You know there were a series of murders that happened around here right?
I found out about it online when I was looking up information about what this area was like.

The Mayor of Jamestown had a son who went crazy and killed everyone.

The mayor’s son, I think his name was Jed, anyway, Jed was crazy…When he was a child he did all the classic serial killer stuff like killing animals and being pretty anti social with other kids. His parents chalked it up to good old boys will be boys and since they lived near the entrance to the state park, they just let him run wild in the woods because in their opinion as long as he wasn’t hurting anyone or himself, what did they care. Around the time Jed was a teenager, he had been pulled out of school because he was constantly getting into fights and skipping classes and tearing up the class rooms. He was a nightmare at home too so his folks decided to build him a small cabin…more of a shack…up in the woods…

Home

Kathy said a lot of this after dinner on Saturday but now that we are home (and being the type of person who, as the Lions pointed out in their skit, likes to write things down carefully) I will say it again here.

You are all great! In all of our travels, we have lived in many places and met many, many cool people. (That’s you!) In every one of those places, you have made us feel at home. For us, home is not just an apartment, a house, or a city: home is where our family and friends are.

I’m pretty comfortable in saying that Camp Spoonhowopic has been a success, and I know that this success is because of you. I feel a little like patrons of art (or patrons of AWESOME)… as if our part was only to provide an opportunity for all of you to express your music, your competitiveness, and your “unbridled enthusiasm.” As if all you needed was just some small excuse (in the form of a bandanna) to unleash your potential. One of the funnest parts of the weekend (for me) was seeing what amazing things you all are capable of: whether it was sticks antlers sticking out from your bandannas, your 110%-all-in participation in the three-legged race, your cheers, or your skits… really, I’m not sure what more anyone could have done.

So, from my current Pittsburgh home, I want to thank all of you for making Camp Spoonhowopic a place where everyone can be themselves, a place where amazing things happen, and yet another home for me and for Copic. You are great.

We have a few more things to say (and a few more recipes to share) so you will hear from us again soon.

Add your photographs

Stefan has created a Flickr group for all of our Camp photographs. After you’ve uploaded your pictures, log in to the Flickr website and click on “Organize.” Then you can a drag your photographs up to middle pane and then click on “Send to group.”

Whew!

Hey everybody. We made it home, and we hope your trip back went well, too!

That was … well, it was awesome. (Do I say “awesome” too much? Perhaps.)

We’ll be posting more links here as we wrap up, but we wanted to thank everybody again for making it such a great weekend. It seemed both so short and so long. On the way back, I was going to say something and I started with “On the first day — at the first breakfast — wait … that was yesterday. Yeah. At Saturday breakfast, which was yesterday, I guess…”

Also, we’ve started collecting a few lost things — let us know if you’ve lost or found something by leaving a comment here.

Much love to you all!

Bring a T-shirt to Tye Dye!

Biz

Hello,

It’s Biz…your camp craft lady. I have a few fun things planned for all those who want to make some classic camp crafts…one activity being tye dying.

(that’s still cool right? HA HA HA..cough)

If you want to dye your tye…please bring a white t-shirt or anything else that is all white and we’ll do it to it!
